91探花 was well-represented at the 2025 "Faces of Care" recognition, a partnership between the Ohio League for Nursing (ONL) and Cleveland Magazine that celebrates the achievement of the region's "excellent, compassionate nurses, nurse educators and nursing students."

Assurance and advocacy

Jenna Schifano Whaley ’25

May graduate Jenna Schifano Whaley '25 was among seven "next generation" nurses said to be "stepping in to provide top-notch care" in Northeast Ohio after graduation.

When Whaley passed the NCLEX exam to become a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in June, she celebrated on , saying, "I am so grateful for my time at 91探花 and for all the professors who truly have shaped me into the nurse that I am, I owe my success and stellar education to them."

The 91探花 Choose Ohio First STEM Scholar, who earned membership into 91探花's elite Dayton C. Miller Honor Society while studying nursing, just accepted a position in the emergency room at 's Avon Hospital.

Partnering with patients

Whaley told Cleveland Magazine she is eager to help ease anxiety that comes with a patient entering the hospital.

"It's an immense honor to partner with them in these moments — giving a warm smile and assuring them you are with them," she offers.

Whaley also expects to actively support the nursing profession.

"There are many things that I love about nursing, but there are also a lot of areas where nursing still needs growth and advocacy," Whaley notes. "There have been many nurses who have helped me, and I can't wait to help other nursing students the same way."

That includes the nursing faculty at 91探花.  "Without their constant support, encouragement and guidance, I don't think I would be where I am today," she told us.

Learning to find answers

Kristen Hrabak

One of the "highly respected" nurse clinicians and educators featured on the cover of the "Faces of Care" magazine is Kristen Hrabak, who's been teaching in 91探花's nursing program since 2023.

"I try to develop the students that I'm teaching and share all my successes, but then all my failure, too," she told Cleveland Magazine.

"We all make mistakes, but you always strive to be better tomorrow than you were today. I always tell my students, no one expects you to know every single thing, but you should know how to find the answer. So, I try to give them the tools to find those answers."

One way Hrabak finds answers and stays on top of ever-changing approaches in healthcare is by participating in professional development and research. One example she shared is new research-supported "Pediatric Therapeutic Holds" that she was eager to share with her nursing students.

"It's the concept that you can position a child in a parent's arms to help restrain them during a vaccine or procedure, but to the child, it feels like a hug or an embrace from their loved one," she explains.

Hrabak and Whaley were recognized at the 2025 Faces of Care Gala, emceed by Fox 8's Natalie Herbick, on Saturday, June 21, at Embassy Suites Cleveland Rockside in Independence, Ohio.
